Taking pictures is hard

I brought my camera to a show, and most of my pictures sucked pretty hard. I'm just not all that confident, both with using my camera (on a technical level), and the act of going up to the front and taking pictures of bands while they play. My pictures are from too far away, or I'm just not aiming at what I want to be taking pictures of because it's dark, or whatever. I did take a couple of decent pictures that didn't involve bands. Mostly one, actually:

Leftovers

I'm leaving for a few weeks in just a couple of days, so I wanted to get rid of the leftovers from the squash dish. I decided to try making a squash soup, even though it isn't really summer food.

I roasted the squash (it was half a squash), and then let it cool down a little.

Then I fried some onion, garlic, and chilli pepper flakes in a little olive oil.

Then I added the squash, about 2 teaspoons of red curry paste, and the remaining coconut milk (400ml - 250ml = 150 ml).

Then I added two cups of vegetable stock.

I pureed it with my hand blender, and then added the juice from a lime I had left.

Ta-da. It was good, but definitely not really summer material. If I had leftover cilantro, that might have made a nice addition.

Testing, testing, 1-2-3.

I made the pesto from the cooking blog late, but wanted to take pictures just to test this whole thing out. I took multiple pictures of the broccoli just sitting on the cutting board.

I decided that since I've never even had pesto (at least, I can't really remember it), I'd pretty much stick to the recipe. I used way more garlic, cause I like it that way. Also, I used the almonds instead of the pine nuts, because I don't like pine nuts.

My blender is small, so I decided that I'd blend the non-broccoli stuff first, and then the broccoli, and then mix it all up in a large bowl.

The pesto itself didn't look very appetizing in the bowl, but I put it on some elbow pasta, and cut up a tomato into small pieces and tossed it all together with a little more olive oil. It was tasty, but my camera didn't have any battery life left at this point, so you'll just have to believe me.
